The Hammers are paying a fee of around £2m for the England goalkeeper, who completed his season-long loan move from Manchester City yesterday.

But they also made a major breakthrough in their pursuit of Marko Arnautovic, with Stoke accepting a club record £23m bid for the forward.

The Potters had rejected offers of £15m and then £20m for the 28-year-old, but Arnautovic is now expected to be a Hammer by the weekend.

He has already agreed personal terms and his medical is expected to be a formality despite a recent knee injury.

West Ham insiders are also confident a £13m deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez will be completed over the next few days.

The Hammers have informed the German club they will meet the Mexican's release clause and have received assurances he wants to join them.

With Pablo Zabaleta already signed from City on a free transfer, boss Slaven Bilic feels these four transfers will plug the biggest holes in his squad.

For Hart, it's a chance to put himself firmly back in the limelight in a World Cup year with younger keepers putting his England place under threat.

West Ham have an option to make the deal permanent next summer and Manchester City are part-funding the 30-year-old's £175,000-a-week wages.

Hart, who was on loan at Torino last season, said: "It's important for me to play football and to get the opportunity to come here and play is absolutely awesome."

"To be playing in the Premier League for a big club like West Ham, I'm really looking forward to the season. I've always loved the club."

"We've moved into London Stadium and we've got Slaven in charge who I've spoken to and I've always enjoyed as a manager."

"He obviously did a good job with Croatia and he's doing a good job here, so to get the opportunity to come here, it wasn't really a hard decision."

Hart, who cannot play against City next season under the terms of his loan, could face his parent club in a pre-season match in Iceland on August 4.

He said: "It'll be fun to play against them. I'd never change how I feel about that club, as it'll always be a very special club to me."
