Kylian Mbappe should learn lessons from Anthony Martial's Man Utd transfer – David Trezeguet

Former Monaco striker David Trezeguet has claimed that Kylian Mbappe must first prove himself at the French club before he can contemplate making a move elsewhere.

Mbappe enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough season that saw him score 26 goals across all competitions, while he helped Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title and also broke into the France senior squad.

There has been much speculation regarding Mbappe's future, with high-profile clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United reportedly interested in signing him.

However, Trezeguet has urged Mbappe to continue to develop at Monaco for now.

As reported by goal, Trezeguet said: "In the semi-final, we played Monaco with Juventus, and we knew he is a player with a great future and that’s the most important thing."

"He is aware of his qualities, he is aware he is just… 18 years old so he has a good opportunity at Monaco because it is a beautiful city, and a world-class academy."

Kylian Mbappe had an average shot accuracy of 76% in Ligue 1 last season.

"But everything goes fast in football. Monaco has known a special case with Anthony Martial going to Manchester [United]."

"Of course, the economic part is important but I think with time things happen naturally."

"I think he still has to prove his qualities with Monaco, even if he will have the last word."

Possessing searing speed and excellent technical ability, Mbappe is a very difficult player for opposing defenders to deal with. His game is about much more than just goals, too, as he showed by creating 31 chances in Ligue 1 last season.

Despite his ability, however, should Mbappe leave Monaco then he does run the risk of not receiving regular playing time elsewhere.
