EXCLUSIVE: Leonid Slutsky to be announced as new Hull manager next week
Next Hull manager: Leonid Slutsky will be confirmed as Marco Silva's replacement next week

Starsport can reveal Slutsky has agreed a two-year-deal with the Tigers to succeed Marco Silva at the KCOM Stadium.

Club owner and chairman Assem Allam held extensive talks with Slutsky last week before offering him the job.

It is understood Slutsky is currently back in Russia sorting out paperwork and his private affairs.

He is expected to travel to Hull next week, when club bosses will confirm his appointment.

Allam has turned to Slutsky, 46, following the club's relegation from the Premier League last month and Silva's decision to quit and take charge of Watford.

Slutsky will now be challenged with leading the Tigers back into the top flight at the first attempt, but it remains to be seen what budget he will be handed to sign new players.

Slutsky's turned to management when his playing career ended at just 19 years of age.

He had to retire due to a knee injury sustained after falling out of a tree while rescuing a neighbour's cat.

He won seven major honours during his managerial career in domestic Russian Football, including three league titles with CSKA Moscow.

He took charge of the Russian national side in 2015 and was at the helm when England faced them in the group stages in Nice at Euro 2016.

He resigned at the end of the tournament when Russia failed to reach the knockout stages and has been out of work since.

But he has been desperate to secure a job in English football and has now got his wish.
