Cristiano Ronaldo already paid six million euros voluntarily

Although he has not officially received notification of the file opened by the Treasury and for which he would have to pay 16 million euros, Cristiano Ronaldo, for the moment, has paid 6 million euros voluntarily to cover issues on outstanding tax.

The process opened on Ronaldo is the same as for other players advised by Jorge Mendes; Diego Costa, Falcao, Filipe Luis and Jackson Martinez.

Jose Mourinho was, in this sense, the first to regularise the situation with the Treasury.

The case of Ronaldo begins in 2003 and ends in 2009.

He used the strategy of Carlos Osorio, a lawyer close to the agent of the Portuguese, and in those years his legal affairs were in the hands of English advisers and Osorio.

In his first four years at Real Madrid, a Spanish company took charge of them, then in 2014 they were back in the hands of an English company.

From 2015, his situation was regularised by Senn and Ferrero.

Ronaldo, after what happened with other players, wanted to sort out his situation and so he did it voluntarily.

In fact he has already paid 6 million euros, although the tax agency is demanding a total payment of 15m.

However, the voluntary payment means that the player could avoid being criminally investigated, as happened with Mourinho.

By contrast, Lionel Messi regularised his own situation after not paying tax on his image rights between 2007 and 2009.

Cristiano Ronaldo is covered by the Impatriate Regime instead of the usual General Regime.

The difference between the two tax regimes is based on the fact that the first of them is only for what is earned in Spain, while in the second, it taxes all income, regardless of where it has been generated.

It was from December 2015 when the Treasury Inspectorate began to analyse Ronaldo's different contracts, valuing the revenues that must be taxed in Spain and which correspond to other countries.
