The City of Madrid's Commission for Sustainable Urban Development has approved Real Madrid's plans to make changes to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Should it be ratified on May 30, then the project for the stadium's modernisation will begin later this year.
Among the changes planned are the moving of offices to Los Blancos' Valdebebas sports complex and training ground, which will free up 8,000 square meters.
In addition, the Bernabeu will undergo internal changes, particularly in relation to the stadium's private boxes and the architectural structure.
A car park located between the Paseo de la Castellana and the West Stand will also be revamped into a public square for supporters to mingle.
The club's plans estimate that it will take 39 months in total to complete the work, with the most important parts of the work taking place in the summer of 2018 and 2019.
