Iniesta: My minimum intention is to fulfill my Barcelona contract

Transfer business and incomings are high on Barcelona's agenda this summer but a number of contract extensions can also be considered key with Andres Iniesta failing to commit to definitely signing a new deal.

Like Lionel Messi, the Blaugrana icon's 2019 release date is nearing with no official announcement or seemingly any agreement between the parties.

"My bare minimum intention is to fulfill the contract that I have and that is what I want to do," stated the midfielder to Rac-1.

"There are always possibilities. It is a question of valuing everything, I am not saying that I will renew or not.

"Given how the season has gone, how everything has changed and how I have learned to value certain things, I said weeks ago that when the time comes for me to leave it will not become a confrontation between me and the club."

Either way, Iniesta is to operate under a new coach next season with Ernesto Valverde getting the Spaniard's blessing as he approaches an official appointment to the Camp Nou hotseat.

"If the coach is to be Valverde then I wish him all the luck in the world, if he is able to come," Iniesta added. "The general opinion from his former clubs is that he knows how Barcelona play and knows how to make his teams play.

"He is a coach who knows what is to be here and if so, if he is the chosen one, I will wish him all the luck in the world and try to give everything he wants on the pitch."
