Rummenigge: I haven't seen a referee like the one at the Bernabeu in 40 years

Although he will be in Cardiff in June, Bayern Munich executive board chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge admitted that he will not attend the Champions League as the pain over their exit at the hands of Real Madrid is still strong.

He will attend European Club Association meetings in Cardiff but has no plans to be present at the game, given his anger over Bayern's quarter-final exit.

On a controversial night at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in which the German champions were reduced to 10 men, referee Viktor Kassai came in for heavy criticism and Rummenigge added to that once more.

"I'll probably have to go to Cardiff as I have several meetings as ECA president but I won't attend the final for the world, I don't forget things quickly," he told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

"If I look at the whole game, it still hurts a lot. We won 4-1 at Dortmund before the trip to Madrid but then Robert Lewandowski and Mats Hummels were injured.

"We went ahead in Madrid but missed the penalty for 2-0 and then came a refereeing performance the likes of which I haven't seen in the last 40 years."

Speaking after the game, Rummenigge insisted that Bayern had been 'cheated' and his opinion hasn't changed a great deal.

"All I will say now is that five major decisions went against Bayern that night," he added.
