Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce: It is time to look to the future
Sam Allardyce has had a turbulent year but finished the season by keeping Crystal Palace up

Allardyce was offered the Palace job by chairman Steve Parish in December, just three months after being forced to quit England after just one game in charge.

Big Sam capped his return by securing Palace’s fifth successive season in the Premier League but warned the club faces a crucial summer if it is to avoid facing another relagation scrap.

Allardyce said: “It’s been great because I’ve been back in football. Steve gave us a chance to come and save Palace and we’ve both got what we wanted.

"I’ve got back in the game. I’ve worked hard with the backroom staff and the support staff and the owners and we’ve all pulled it together in a short period of time and that puts the past in the past.

You can look and move on with your life and say, ‘Look what’s happened at Crystal Palace’ and what can be built for next year.

"So look in the future and not in the past because you can’t affect the past anymore.”

Allardyce’s January signings, Mamadou Sakho, Luke Milivojevic, Patrick van Aanholt and Jeff Schlupp all played crucial roles in keeping Palace up.
