Liverpool transfer plans: Jurgen Klopp wants these five signings this summer

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly targeting five new signings this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is ready to spend big during the transfer window as he looks to strengthen several key areas of his squad.

Liverpool are on the verge of securing their return to the Champions League next term and the German boss is planning to build a team capable of challenging in Europe and the Premier League.

And the Independent claim he has outlined five new signings to improve the following areas.

They are: at least one left-back, a forward, a central midfielder and a centre-half.

The report claims Red Bull Leipzig duo Timo Werner and Naby Keita are on Klopp's radar.

Striker Werner has netted 21 goals in 31 games this season and would provide an ideal replacement for Daniel Sturridge if he leaves.

Keita's arrival would help beef up Liverpool's midfield and allow Jurgen Klopp to rotate his squad to juggle the possibility of competing across four competitions.

In the Premier League, Klopp will look to sign Southampton's Virgil van Dijk, although he faces tough competition with Chelsea and Manchester City for his signature.

Southampton are determined to keep hold of Van Dijk but reports suggest he is favouring a move to Stamford Bridge.

In a bid to bolster his defensive line, Klopp is also confident of seeking transfers for Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon and Hull's Andrew Robertson.

Following Hull's relegation to the Premier League, Robertson is thought to be the easier target to land, although Fulham are unlikely to be able to keep hold of 16-year-old Sessegnon with a host of Premier League clubs scouting him.

The report claims Liverpool are hoping to land left-back Sessegnon for £15m.
