TOTTENHAM fans rushed to assist Mesut Ozil yesterday as the Arsenal man struggled to find the corner spot during a pulsating north London derby yesterday.

The former Madrid star was reprimanded by referee Michael Oliver after attempting to steal a few inches while taking a corner midway through the first half.

But as Oliver jogged away, Ozil touched the ball forward again a couple of inches, sending the sold-out crowd at White Hart Lane into a howling frenzy.

Arsenal’s £42m man clearly was unphased by the hostility however, responding by blowing a kiss to Spurs supporters.

One bloke was so enraged by Ozil’s antics that cameras showed him charging down the steps toward the pitch in order to hurl abuse at him.

He was halted by stewards – but not before unloading a reel of expletives at Ozil before the German stepped up to whip the ball into the box.

It turned out to be a miserable afternoon for Arsenal fans who made the short trip over to Tottenham, as they were outclassed and outworked by a better side.

Dele Alli and Harry Kane struck within two minutes of each other to hand Spurs a famous victory in the last ever north London derby to be held at White Hart Lane.

Victory ensured Tottenham will finish above Arsenal in the league for the first time since the 1994/95 season.

"We did lose the game in a very quick space of time, and after that it took us time to recover,” said Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.

"Spurs deserved to win, we have to accept that and analyse it. It is very disappointing, but the target at the beginning of the season is not to finish above Spurs, it is to win the league.”

The team are due to move into a brand new stadium next door for the beginning of the 2018/19 season, after the club confirmed next season’s home fixtures will take place at Wembley Stadium.
