Inter Milan legend and former club president Sandro Mazzola believes the financial might of owners Suning Holdings Group means even Lionel Messi is a realistic transfer target.
The 18-time Italian champions were acquired by the Chinese holding company in 2016 with grand ambitions to cement them as a European powerhouse.
Inter, who are going to miss out on Champions League football yet again, spent £131 million on 12 players this season but it's inconsequential as far as recruitment is concerned for Mazzola.
"Suning have the strength to get those they want, including Messi," he told Il Mattino, as reported by Goal.
With five matches remaining in the Serie A season, the Nerazzurri find themselves sitting seventh in the championship having accumulated 56 points from 33 matches played.
Inter began the season with Frank de Boer in charge before he was dismissed after 11 league games and subsequently replaced by Stefano Pioli, who signed a contract until June 2018.
Under him the Milanese club go into Sunday's evening meeting with third-placed Napoli having failed to win any of their last five league outings.
