‘Jack Wilshere set for Arsenal contract talks despite latest injury setback’

Jack Wilshere is set to discuss his Arsenal future with Arsene Wenger after suffering a broken leg.
The 25-year-old has thus far failed to live up to the lofty expectations that were placed on him following his breakthrough into the Arsenal team at the age of 16 and his most recent loan spell at Bournemouth was seen as his final opportunity to prove his worth.
Wilshere endured a decent time on the south coast and would have taken encouragement from consistently holding down a first-team place for the first time since he was a teenager before suffering a broken leg after a challenge from Harry Kane.
Despite his new injury, his stint at the Vitality Stadium appears to have been enough to have earned the 25-year-old another chance in north London as Arsenal are looking to offer him an extension with his current contract ending at the end of next season, reports the Mail Online.
An extension of his Arsenal contract would also prevent him leaving north London on a free transfer at the end of his current deal should he decide to continue his career elsewhere - a likelihood given the scarcity of first-team opportunities at the Emirates.
Wilshere's worsening injury record may prove to be a deterrent to any potential future destination for him, however, with his most recent setback putting Bournemouth off making his loan spell permanent and cooling interest from West Ham and Manchester City.
