Manchester United fans love what Jose Mourinho did after beating Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has a special relationship with Chelsea Football Club but he was in no mood to help them win the Premier League title this afternoon.

Mourinho's Manchester United did Tottenham Hotspur a huge favour by beating the Blues 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, ensuring the gap remains just four points with six games remaining following Spurs' 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera scored the goals as United kept the pressure on Manchester City in their bid to finish in the top four. The Red Devils, four points behind their rivals, travel to Burnley next weekend for their game in hand before the all-important Manchester derby on April 27.

Plenty were confused when Mourinho dropped Zlatan Ibrahimovic for today's game, claiming the Swede was “tired" a week after Ibra compared himself to Benjamin Button.

But it was a decision that worked to perfection. Rashford gave Chelsea's defence fits all game and Ibrahimovic earned a well-earned rest, playing only seven minutes.

"Maybe we didn't 'rest' players ahead of Thursday, we just chose the team we thought was the best team," Mourinho said afterwards, via BBC Sport.

"We went to Stamford Bridge in the cup with the same tactics, the game was totally controlled with 11 players, only the decision that made us play with 10 men for the second half and 10 minutes in the first half, gave Chelsea a chance to be dominant.

"We knew that playing this way would be very difficult for them."

UNITED ARE IN GREAT FORM

United are Europe's in-form team right now. They have gone 22 games unbeaten, the longest run in Europe's top five leagues, and you have to fancy them to go all the way in the Europa League.

And if they do go on to win the tournament, Mourinho's debut season at Old Trafford can be marked as a success.

The Portuguese looked delighted at full-time, tapping the Man United badge on his jacket as he headed towards the tunnel.
