7M - Aubameyang: A move to Real Madrid?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is now the hitman for Borussia Dortmund. The Gabon international has bagged 33 goals in 36 games of all competitions so far this term. Besides, he has a 31% conversion rate and a shooting accuracy of 65%, which makes him the leader in the top scorer list of Bundesliga. Although his contract with Dortmund will not expire until June of 2020, Aubameyang is inevitably the top transfer target for all the big clubs in Europe, with Real Madrid believed to be one of his admirers.

Aubameyang also has publicly claimed in many occasions that a move to Los Blancos is his childhood dream, and also a promise made to his grandfather. Just weeks ago, this prolific striker once again discussed his future. He thought he may have to leave Signal Iduna Park to further his career. So is it possible for the Gabonese forward to move to Real Madrid this summer?

Cristiano Ronaldo has celebrated his 32-year-old birthday in this February. This super star is moving to a year closer to retirement. He is nearer to a stage where he will no longer be Real Madrid's talisman. In this case, Zinedine Zidane's side must seriously consider the replacements for the Portuguese. But do Real really want Aubameyang?

Although Aubameyang is exceptionally quick in pace, he is not a traditional No.9 with a strong body and all-rounded skills. According to Sport Bild, if Real Madrid set to bring in a new striker this summer, they would prefer a center forward, not the like of Aubameyang. Besides, Karim Benzema is currently Madrid's first-choice center forward, and Real are reportedly looking to extend his contract. On the other hand, we should not forget Alvaro Morata, who is also coveting a position in the attacking line. Therefore, we believe that Aubameyang will struggle to edge into the starting XI even if he manages to switch to Los Blancos.

In addition, Aubameyang should know he will be under great pressure if he joins Real Madrid. His individual life will be monitored by the pervasive Spanish media, and if he fails to put up satisfactory performance, he will even be booed by own fans. Let's take Nuri Sahin as an example. He joined Real as the Bundesliga Player of the Season in 2011, but he completely got lost in Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. After another unsuccessful loan spell at Liverpool, he returned to Dortmund in 2013. So Aubameyang had better learn Sahin's lesson and reconsider his decision.

Aubameyang's public discussion on his future surely incurs the wrath of club chiefs. Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel says Aubameyang's words are unhelpful to the team. In conclusion, we advise that at the moment, Aubameyang should focus on his performance on the pitch rather than on a potential summer move to Real Madrid. Dortmund are now in a crucial phase in all 3 fronts, and the Gabonese striker's performance will largely decide the Bumblebees' record this season. Maybe it is not until the end of this season that his transfer issue should be put on the agenda.
