NATION: Three Lions fans vowed to boycott England’s new kit

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford unveiled the away strip this morning, with Nike claiming the new design will "increase a player’s speed”.

But furious fans dismissed the American firm’s latest design, which has replaced the popular red away shirts worn at Euro 2016.

The £60 blue shirts will go on sale tomorrow morning and will be worn by the team tomorrow night for their friendly against Germany in Dortmund.

Today stars including John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane posed in the kit ahead of boss Gareth Southgate’s first match as the permanent boss.

But angry fans blasted the midnight blue look, calling for the Football Association to drop the kit supplier.

One irate fan said: “So now we’re wearing Scotland’s top, ridiculous. We’re f****** England, we wear red and white.”

Another added: “Please can the FA or Nike tell me where blue is on the England flag?”

Another slammed: “A pathetic shirt from Nike. It’s ugly, no creative design whatsoever went into producing that. I’m English, not a Jock.”

The kit looks to be as popular with fans as the national side’s hated grey kit, worn against Germany when England lost in the semi-finals of Euro ’96 on penalties.

Supporters were also cross that yet another kit was being produced so soon after the last one, which was launched for Euro 2016.

A full home kit for adults will cost more than £100.

Parents will have to fork out at least £80 for a child’s shirt, shirts and socks.

One fan said: “England getting a new away kit, out of date by the world cup. Still, the FA love fleecing the fans.”

Another added: “Another month & another England kit released.” Nike says the new kit is “designed to facilitate football at top speed.”

The company adds: “A black vertical stripe runs the length of the shirt and shorts, expanding when the player is in motion to help maximise ventilation.”

The Football Association and Nike both declined to comment.
