Museum pays homage to Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal does not get tired of paying homage to its hero, Cristiano Ronaldo, and, taking advantage of his fourth Ballon d'Or award, the National Press Museum of Porto has exhibited a collection of 100 covers of newspapers from around the world along with 30 cartoons of the Real Madrid player.

Pedro Marques, head of the museum's Design Cabinet, along with his team, has been in charge of choosing the covers of the Portuguese.

"He is a person who raises the name of Portugal to the whole world and 2016 has undoubtedly been his year," he said.

"The collection reviews the trajectory of Cristiano, since he started in Sporting Lisbon until his last successes."

Among the exhibition are several covers are from MARCA, including when the player won his third Ballon d'or and also celebrating a goal with his popular shout 'siuuu'.

"The cartoons are a comical way of representing the meaning of Cristiano for Portugal," Marques continued.

The collection will be on display until February 28 and will then move to Madeira.

Ronaldo himself plans to visit as the move will coincide with the international break.

Portugal will face Sweden in Funchal in a friendly match that will serve as a tribute to the striker, as it will be the first time he has played in his home town.
