Northampton will be without defenders Gabriel Zakuani and Brendan Moloney for the visit of Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Zakuani is on African Nations Cup duty with DR Congo while Moloney is sidelined following a knee injury.

Caretaker manager Paul Wilkinson will make a late decision on defender Aaron Phillips (hamstring), but Lewin Nyatanga is available after he missed last Saturday's 5-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers through illness.

Forward JJ Hooper has returned to Port Vale following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Scunthorpe clawed their way back into the automatic promotion places with their first win in four league games over Bury last weekend.

Boss Graham Alexander could hand striker Craig Davies his first league start while Harry Toffolo returns to contention after being cup-tied in midweek.

Paddy Madden is again ruled out through injury with both Conor Townsend and David Mirfin making steady progress in their bids to return.

Full-back Scott Wiseman faces a late injury test after picking up a hamstring injury in midweek.
