Wagner snubs Wolfsburg interest

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has pledged his commitment to the club in the wake of interest from Wolfsburg back in his homeland.
The 45-year-old left his native Germany in November 2015 to take over the reins at John Smith’s Stadium, having been in the employ of Borussia Dortmund since 2011 as their second-team coach.
Wagner has attracted the attention of the Bundesliga strugglers after an impressive first half of the season with the Terriers, who are just 10 points adrift of Championship leaders Newcastle in fourth place.
Die Wolfe sacked Dieter Hecking as their head coach in October after a poor start to the new campaign and his successor, Valerien Ismael, has only steered them to two wins in eight league games at the helm.
Wagner moved to clarify his future after BBC Radio Leeds reported that the German had turned down an approach from the Lower Saxony outfit earlier this week.
“There have been a lot of rumours around my future in the media and although I don’t believe I should be the story, I cannot stay silent on this matter,” he said.
“It is correct that there has been interest from a few Bundesliga clubs. They have obviously seen the way we are going at Huddersfield Town and the journey we have been on together over the last 12 months.
“It’s important for me to clarify that my focus is on moving forward at Huddersfield Town.”
