Sevilla 4 - 1 Malaga: Sevilla surge up to second in LaLiga after easing past Malaga

Sevilla surged up to second in LaLiga as four goals in 10 first-half minutes swept Malaga aside at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The game had been evenly fought until the 25th minute when Luciano Vietto netted the opening goal and he quickly added a second, before Wissam Ben Yedder and Vitolo also got in on the act.

Adil Rami's red card on the hour mark forced Sevilla to hold what they had rather than push for more, especially as Sandro Ramirez scored from the resultant free-kick in the 64th minute to make the final score 4-1.

Jorge Sampaoli have now won seven of their eight home matches and moved above Barcelona, at least until they take on local rivals Espanyol on Sunday.

Vietto's goal in the 25th minute opened the floodgates as he calmly sidefooted home Steven N'Zonzi's pass through the middle having prised the Malaga defence apart.

Vitolo's barnstorming run created the second, as he jinked his way into the box and stabbed it low across the area. Malaga goalkeeper Denis Boyko pushed it out, but only as far as Vietto who stroked it in.

Two goals in three minutes were just the start however. Samir Nasri swept the ball wide for Gabriel Mercado, whose low cross was sidefooted home with an assured finish from Ben Yedder.

Vitolo deserved his goal in the 35th minute as Vietto set him up to tap home from close range to complete a whirlwind spell.

Rami's dismissal seemed to slow Sevilla's momentum. He went in late on Juan Carlos and was booked, before being shown a second yellow for dissent.

Sandro inflicted full punishment by curling his free-kick over the wall and past the static Sergio Rico.
