Real Sociedad condemned Valencia to their seventh consecutive league game without victory after recording 3-2 victory at Anoeta Stadium on Saturday.

Eusebio Sacristan's men got off to the best possible start and found themselves in the lead in the first minute of the game, Willian Jose's header finding the back of the net from Xabi Prieto's corner.

The home side dominated proceedings for large spells in the first half, but were let down by poor finishing, with David Zurutuza in particular guilty of a wasteful touch in front of goal.

Valencia posed little threat to Sociedad's one-goal lead in the first half, with midfielder Asier Illarramendi doing well to thwart any threats in the defensive third.

Jose completed his brace midway through the first half when he rose highest to meet Carlos Vela's corner to double his side's advantage. The goal seemed to spark Valencia into action, as they started seeing more of the ball and creating more opportunities.

The visitors were rewarded for their efforts in the 35th minute when they got a penalty after Inigo Martinez was adjudged to have impeded an opponent in the area. Daniel Parejo made no mistake with the resulting penalty to give Valencia a way back into the contest.

Cesare Prandelli's side gave a much better account of themselves in the second half and were unfortunate not to have drawn level in the 58th minute when Mario Suarez's shot was brilliantly stopped by Geronimo Rulli.

Carlos Vela squandered the perfect opportunity to put the game to bed when his 59th-penalty was stopped by Diego Alves.

Vela made up for his penalty miss, though, when he setup teammate Juanmi, who rifled home a left-footed strike from inside the danger area. However, the visitors replied a minute later when Zakaria Bakkali's shot from a tight angle found the back of the net to setup a tense finish.

Content with their one-goal lead, Sociedad shut up shop in the final stages of the encounter and managed to hold firm as they claimed a vital three points.
