Liverpool and Tottenham targeting former Man United striker Javier Hernandez

Over the past couple of weeks, Liverpool and Tottenham have both had problems when it comes to their strikers.

Despite the arrival of Vincent Janssen over the summer, Spurs struggled to score goals when Harry Kane was out with an injury during October and November. As for The Reds, Daniel Sturridge could be sold in January after falling out of selection due to injury and form.

The player that could come in to fill in a need at striker for either Premier League club is none other than former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez.

The Bayer Leverkusen star is a target for both clubs, as well as the struggling Valencia who currently reside fourth from bottom in La Liga, according to the Mirror.

All three clubs could look to pursue the Mexican's signature this January, but they will have to fork out £33.5 million in order to meet his buyout clause with the Bundesliga side.

Since falling out of favour and being sold by United last summer for £7.3 million last summer while Louis van Gaal was in charge, Hernandez has rejuvenated his career, scoring 33 goals in 60 appearances for Leverkusen.

Although he didn't start that much, Chicharito had an incredible minutes-per-goal ratio while he was playing for the Red Devils, having an average of 129.57 minutes-per-goal, according to talkSport. This is only behind Ruud van Nistelrooy and Thierry Henry as the most prolific in the history of the Premier League.

If he is able to replicate this kind of threat at either Liverpool or Spurs if he was to secure a transfer, it would surely boost that said team's chances of winning the title this season.
