One of the six survivors of the Colombian plane crash has described the final moments of the doomed aircraft.
Erwin Tumiri, a crew member on the flight, said that many of the 76 people on board stood up and started screaming as the plane began its descent into a mountainside.
The Daily Mail reports that Erwin told rescuers: "I put the bags in between my legs to form the foetal position that is recommended in the accidents.
"During the situation, many stood up from their seats and they started to shout."
Flight LMI2933 plummeted from the sky, just south of Medellin, yesterday. Since then, information is starting to come to light about what exactly happened.
The majority of the Chapecoense football team sadly died. Alan Ruschel, Jakson Follman and Zampier Neto all survived. Goalkeeper Marcos Danilo was also named as a survivor but tragically passed away in hospital.
Two crew members, Erwin and another named Ximena Suárez, as well as journalist, Rafael Valmorbida, also survived.
At this moment in time, no-one knows exactly what happened. However, there is the possibility that the plane ran out of fuel and this in turn caused an electrical fault.
