Wolves vs Sheffield Wed. - Danny Batth suspended for Wolves

Posted Friday, November 25, 2016 by PA

Wolves will be without suspended captain Danny Batth for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

The defender was booked for the fifth time this season in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Preston, manager Paul Lambert's first game in charge, and will sit out at Molineux this weekend.

Mike Williamson (glute) continues to be sidelined and has not played since he made a permanent transfer to Wolves from Newcastle in January.

Michal Zyro (knee) and Jordan Graham (knee) are recovering from their long-term injuries with Zyro not expected back until 2017, although Graham may return before Christmas.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without striker Gary Hooper due to a hamstring problem.

Hooper faces an extended spell on the sidelines after sustaining the injury in last week's 1-1 draw at Fulham, so head coach Carlos Carvalhal could recall Steven Fletcher to the starting line-up.

Fellow striker Lucas Joao is also in contention after returning to training two weeks ago. The Portuguese has recovered from a groin injury having been out since August.

Defender Daniel Pudil is expected to overcome the knock which kept him out last week and midfielder Almen Abdi will also return to contention following illness.
