Diego Maradona hits out at
Higuain did not celebrate his goal against old club Napoli .

It's hard to blame Gonzalo Higuain for switching from Napoli to Juventus in the summer.

The former Real Madrid striker's move caused quite the stir in Serie A, his 36 goals for Napoli almost immediately forgotten by his former fans when he joined the champions in a €90m deal.

Given that the Old Lady have won the league for the last five years running, it wasn't entirely unreasonable that the Argentinian wanted to join, even if Napoli had made huge progress with him leading their line.

This weekend, he scored the winning goal against his old side, but refused to celebrate. That might have won him back a few admirers, but it seems there will always be a touch of bitterness over his transfer.

In fact, the legendary Diego Maradona has basically confirmed that with a rather strongly-worded video uploaded to his Facebook page.

As a compatriot of Higuain, and a player who himself lit up Napoli for many years, you'd think he might be a bit more understanding. Nope, not a chance - and he doesn't sound impressed by Juventus either.

Great pyjamas though.

"It is my 56th birthday, but I am sad because Napoli lost to Juventus," Maradona begins, as per regional newspaper Il Mattino.

MARADONA'S RANT

"Against this Juve, my Napoli would've certainly scored four goals. If you don't know that already, ask your fathers. This Juve is not as strong as the one I used to play against.

"I am not a traitor. I don't care what Higuain did, he can continue along his way, I really don't care. I am relaxed because I have never betrayed the Napoli jersey. My heart is Neapolitan."

Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri clearly didn't have any hard feelings towards Higuain, describing the player as a "phenomenon" after the game, via the Guardian.

"A loose ball at Gonzalo's feet is a death sentence for defenders. If Gonzalo wins something in Europe, I am happy for him, although less so for Juventus.

"I still consider him to be like a son, even though the transfer to Juventus made me feel bad."

Higuain's goal against Napoli was his seventh of the season.
