US Sassuolo Calcio 1 - 3 AS Roma: scores twice as Roma defeat Sassuolo

Edin Dzeko continued his hot streak in front of goal as Roma battled back from a goal down to win 3-1 at Sassuolo.

The Bosnia international has now scored 10 goals in as many games and Roma needed his scoring touch after they fell behind to Paolo Cannavaro's 12th-minute header.

Dzeko had already hit the crossbar before he equalised on 57 minutes, and then won and converted a 76th-minute penalty.

Radja Nainggolan made the points safe, and kept Roma two points adrift of leaders Juventus, as he scored for the third successive match although the visitors' night was soured by a knee injury to their Italy international Alessandro Florenzi.

Sassuolo had never scored a home league goal against Roma, but went ahead when Cannavaro headed past an unmoved Wojciech Szczesny after Matteo Politano chipped a cross to the top of the six-yard box.

Roma twice hit the frame of the goal before half-time with Stephan El Shaarawy hitting a post before Dzeko thumped an effort against the crossbar.

Dzeko would extend his rich goalscoring form shortly after half-time, however, when Mohamad Salah's cross picked him out at the far post.

The 30-year-old striker then won the penalty to put Roma ahead when he was felled by substitute Pol Lirola - who is on loan at Sassuolo from Roma's title rivals Juventus - and Dzeko tucked away the spot-kick.

Nainggolan added a third goal moments later, with a tap-in, to continue his own impressive run, but with time ticking down Roma suffered a blow as Florenzi was forced off with a nasty-looking knee problem.
