Granada failed to register their first LaLiga win of the season as they were held to a goalless draw by fellow strugglers Sporting Gijon at a rain-drenched Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.
The basement club have now only collected three points from the first nine matches in Spain's top flight and despite being the better of the two sides, they could not break the deadlock.
The hosts came closest to scoring early in the second half when Ruben Vezo connected with Andreas Pereira's free-kick which brought a terrific save from Ivan Cuellar to deny him.
Sporting winger Bergui produced the first opportunity of the match when he cut inside from the left but his tame effort was easily gathered by Granada goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
At the other end, Ezequiel Ponce worked a good opening before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike which hit a visiting defender.
Sporting spurned a great chance when Juan Rodriguez failed to connect with Moi Gomez's wonderful free-kick as they went into the break at stalemate.
The hosts came out firing in the second half and almost got the opener through Vezo's powerful header which was kept out by an athletic Cuellar save.
From the resulting corner, centre-back David Lomban was free at the post but his strike was cleared off the line before Pereira spurned another opportunity when blasting wide from 15 yards out.
But the visitors nearly snatched it at the death when a deep free-kick by Gomez worked its way across goal which neither Borja Viguera or Duje Cop were able to convert from five yards out.
