Portsmouth vs Notts County - Portsmouth looking strong for Magpies test

Posted Friday, October 21, 2016 by PA

Portsmouth have an almost fully-fit squad for their Sky Bet League Two encounter against Notts County.

Pompey boss Paul Cook will welcome back Drew Talbot (hamstring), Adam Buxton (ankle) and Matt Clarke (thigh) from injury and all three players could feature.

Striker Noel Hunt is back in training after a groin injury but Saturday's match could be too soon to return.

Portsmouth are looking to extend their unbeaten league run to three games.

Notts County will be without top scorer Jon Stead at Fratton Park.

Stead had to come off with an injury at half-time against Crewe last weekend. Magpies manager John Sheridan is awaiting the results of a scan before putting a time frame on how long the nine-goal striker might be absent, but he will not be involved on Saturday.

Michael O'Connor is back in training after missing the last four weeks with a groin problem and will be part of the squad against Pompey.

Fellow midfielders Alan Smith (hip) and Curtis Thompson (ankle) continue to work their way back to full fitness.
