MOCKED: Man United star Eric Bailly turned up for training in a pair of white plastic sandals
The £30million defender left suave stars like Ashley Young and Juan Mata aghast when he rolled up at the club's Carrington training HQ in the £5 footwear.
But the Ivory Coast international is unlikely to turn up in them again after his mickey-taking teammates hung the PVC jelly-shoe sandals from a light fitting.
Spain star Mata, 28, captioned his snap simply: “Sorry @ericbailly24.”
One fan asked: “What are thoooose?”
Teammate Young, 31, posted a photo of the shoes suspended from a light and asked his followers: “Name the player who wore these today?”
One replied: “Eric Bailly own that sandal.”
LOVED: Bailly has fast become a fans' favourite since signing for United
Bailly, 22, has fast become a fans' favourite since signing for United from Spanish club Villarreal in the summer.
But a source said: “He might be much loved for his efforts on the pitch but I don't think there will be too many supporters queuing up for his fashion range.
"Cristiano Ronaldo he is not. The lads could not believe their eyes.
"Let's just say Eric looks better in football boots.”
Wimbledon’s Crazy Gang started the trend of punishing team-mates for trying to pull-off flash clothes in the 80s.
Tasteless shoes and garish suits ended up sliced up with scissors or burned on a bonfire at the hands of ex-boss Dave Bassett’s players.
