Ayr Utd. 0 - 0 Dunfermline: Honest Men share spoils with Dunfermline
Posted Sunday, October 02, 2016 by PA
Ayr and Dunfermline both failed to build on victories last week as they played out a goalless Ladbrokes Championship draw at Somerset Park.
Sean Murdoch had to be on his toes early on as he tipped over Brian Gilmour's long-range effort in the fourth minute.
And at the other end Greg Fleming denied Michael Patton with his legs after a short corner.
Murdoch then produced a brilliant save at his near post to prevent Alan Forrest from opening the scoring.
Murdoch was keeping Dunfermline in the game and made another save from a Gilmour long-range strike before repeating the trick to deny Gary Harkins.
Joe Cardle thought he had put Dunfermline ahead after 65 minutes but the goal was disallowed after Farid El Alagui had committed a foul in the build-up.
Harkins then escaped down the left but from his cross Jason Talbot cut it out with Paul Cairney waiting to pounce.
