James Rodriguez: A Real Madrid win would have been the fair result

Borussia Dortmund twice equalised against Real Madrid in their Tuesday night Champions League duel to earn a 2-2 draw, but the Spanish side's midfielder James Rodriguez believed his team deserved all three points.

Although the German side had more possession and more shots, Los Blancos' Colombian felt that he and his teammates had created the better quality opportunities.

"A [Real Madrid] win would have been the fair result," the No.10 said after the match.

"But it was a tough stadium to come to and they played well.

"Despite everything it is a good result in a difficult stadium."

Asked how it felt to start the game, the player explained he was pleased to be given the opportunity and that he was happy with his performance.

"I felt good," he said.

"What I want is to help the team to secure good results.

"All I want is to play well and to help out, as I've done since the day I arrived."

Finally, James spoke about the team's league match at home to Eibar on Sunday and of the need to get back to winning ways in domestic competition.

"We now need to think about the league and have to go out and win on Sunday."

That match against the Basque side kicks off at 16:15 CET at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon.
