Record signing Borja Baston could make his first Premier League start for Swansea when unbeaten leaders Manchester City return to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Borja impressed during Wednesday's 2-1 EFL Cup defeat against City, while Swans boss Franceso Guidolin must also decide whether to involve club captain Leon Britton after the 34-year-old shone in midweek.

Winger Nathan Dyer, meanwhile, has undergone surgery to remove extra bone that had grown on his ankle. He is likely to be sidelined until mid-November.

Swans defender Jordi Amat accepts his side are about to embark on a tricky sequence of games in their quest for Premier League points.

The Swans are without a win in any competition since August 23, when they knocked League One club Peterborough out of the EFL Cup.

And life is not about to get any easier, with unbeaten league leaders Manchester City back at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday after their 2-1 midweek EFL Cup win, followed by Liverpool next weekend before facing Arsenal away.

"We know this is a difficult run with City, Liverpool and Arsenal coming up, but we cannot complain. We have to try and get points," Amat said.

"The important thing is to focus on us and how we can perform.

"The game on Wednesday was better, and we are ready for these games. We know how to win these sort of games, and that is what we will try to do."

Top scorer Sergio Aguero returns for Manchester City after completing his domestic suspension.

Captain Vincent Kompany is facing another lay-off after suffering a groin injury in his comeback game against the Swans in the EFL Cup in midweek and no date has yet been put on his return.

Playmaker David Silva might return after a muscle injury but midfielder Fabian Delph could still be doubtful and Noilito is suspended.

Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan hailed team-mate Aguero as player of rare quality as the striker prepares to return this weekend.

City's top scorer is back in contention after completing his three-match domestic ban for elbowing West Ham's Winston Reid.

Aguero had started the season in blistering form, scoring nine goals in five appearances including two hat-tricks.

"Kun is very important for us," midfielder Gundogan told City TV. "He has qualities that are very rare in the world, so we try to involve him in every game.

"We just want him to score for us in every game and to have him is a very good feeling. It gives us the safety that we are even more able to score. We are all happy he is back now after his three games."
