Schalke 04 1 - 3 Koln: Schalke's miserable start continues with home loss
Posted Thursday, September 22, 2016 by PA
Schalke were left rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga table after falling to their fourth straight defeat of the season, a 3-1 loss at home to Cologne.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored the first goal of the night and Schalke's first goal of the season, beating Timo Horn after the Cologne goakeeper had just denied Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting with an excellent save in the 36th minute.
The Royal Blues' lead lasted only a handful of minutes, though, before Yuyo Osako placed his shot inside Ralf Fahrmann's right-hand post from Anthony Modeste's knock down.
Modeste put Cologne in front with just under 15 minutes remaining before Simon Zoller compounded Schalke's woes with a close-range finish, lifting the Goats up to second in the Bundesliga and leaving a beleaguered Schalke bottom with zero points from four games.
