Peterborough United vs Port Vale - Michael Smith and Hayden White return

Posted Friday, September 09, 2016 by PA

Peterborough will welcome back defenders Michael Smith and Hayden White for their Sky Bet League One clash against Port Vale after both players missed Posh's last two matches.

Smith was away with Northern Ireland during the international break while White has recovered from a groin injury.

Loanee Nathan Oduwa and George Moncur could be handed their first starts for Grant McCann's men after coming on as substitutes against Swindon last weekend.

Midfielder Brad Inman (ankle) and striker Lee Angol (ankle) remain on the sidelines.

Port Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro will be hoping his side bounce back following their second league defeat of the season to Bury last weekend.

Anthony de Freitas is a major doubt after coming off early in the first half of the 4-1 defeat while striker Anton Forrester could also be missing after picking up a knock during the match.

Midfield duo Anthony Grant and Paulo Tavares could be in line for returns after missing the last two games through hamstring injuries with the latter being an unused substitute at Gigg Lane.

Gezim Shalaj could be pushing for a starting place after making his debut from the bench following his deadline day move from Cypriot side Enosis Neon Paralimni.
