Eric Bailly sent a message to the Manchester United supporters via his Instagram page as the defender jetted off to the Ivory Coast on Sunday afternoon.

The 22-year-old centre-half helped United keep a second successive clean sheet on Saturday evening as Jose Mourinho's side were 1-0 winners against Hull City.

The African defender was the first of Jose Mourinho's summer signings after the centre-half completed a £30m move to the Red Devils from La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Bailly was named the man of the match in United's 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield showpiece at Wembley earlier this month.

The African followed up his Wembley display with another man-of-the-match performance in United's opening Premier League game as the Red Devils were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth.

Remarkably, Bailly made it a hat-trick of man-of-the-match awards following his impressive performance at Hull.

Bailly posted the above photo and wrote on his Instagram page:

"About to take off to go defend my country's shirt. #Team225"

United are in second place in the Premier League table behind leaders Chelsea.
