Cesc Fabregas reacts to reports he could leave Chelsea

It's fair to say that the future of Spain international Cesc Fabregas has been heavily debated recently.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has failed to secure a prominent role in Antonio Conte's Chelsea side during the opening couple of weeks of the season.

Indeed, Fabregas was once again left on the bench as the west London outfit overcame Burnley by three goals to nil on Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, then, reports indicated that Conte has told Fabregas that he is free to leave the club before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday.

The Chelsea playmaker has now responded to the reports, insisting that Conte has told him that he still has a role to play at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, Fabregas claims that he is 'fully committed' to Chelsea and will continue to fight for the club.

Fabregas tweeted: "Contrary to what has been written, the manager and I have a good relationship and he has NEVER told me that I can leave. He said that he counts on me, as I count on him.

"I will continue to fight for this club until the very end and when called upon I will always give my very best. I'm fully committed to @ChelseaFC and my only goal is to help them win football matches."

SECURING A STARTING XI SPOT

It's certainly going to be interesting to see whether Fabregas breaks into the Chelsea side over the coming weeks and months.

It was well documented that he failed to produce the goods at the Bridge last season, but there's no reason why he won't be able to get back to his best sooner rather than later. For now, though, Fabregas will just be intent on regaining his place in the Chelsea starting XI.

That won't be easy, of course; Conte's side have started the new season in terrific form, racking up maximum points from their opening three fixtures.
