Chelsea are set to sign left-back Marcos Alonso from Serie A side Fiorentina, according to reports.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is thought to be keen on adding another signing to his squad and his defensive options are reportedly set to be bolstered.
The charismatic manager has already added N'Golo Kante from Leicester City and Michy Batshuayi from Marseille to his squad and reports suggest that Alonso is on his way to Stamford Bridge.
Spanish newspaper, Marca have issued the report that the former Bolton Wanderers full-back will join the West London club for €25million before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.
Former Real Madrid academy player, Alonso has made 84 appearances for current club Fiorentina, scoring five goals and assisting seven.
Premier League fans may also remember the 25-year-old from his loan spell at Sunderland, during which he made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats.
Central defence had been the position Chelsea were targeting with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been linked with a move throughout the summer but the report claims that the signing of Alonso will allow versatile players such as Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic to be utilised elsewhere.
Chelsea have adapted to life under Conte fantastically well and they have won all three of their Premier League games against West Ham, Watford and Burnley so far.
The Blues will be looking to continue their perfect start when they travel to Swansea City after the international break.
