Monaco vs Paris St Germain - PSG looking to sign off in style before international break

Unai Emery has called on his Paris St Germain players to extend their 100 per cent start to the Ligue 1 season ahead of the international break.

PSG are looking to claim the title for a fifth successive year and travel to Monaco on Sunday following successive wins over Bastia and Metz.

Spaniard Emery, who arrived from Sevilla in the summer, believes it will be a tough test at the Stade Louis II and is keen for his players to maintain momentum before they join up with their national team squads.

He told psg.fr: "Monaco are a good team. They're going to play with confidence after their qualification for the Champions League group stage. It'll be our third game, and a difficult trip.

"Monaco have very good players, and a coach who has been there for three years. They're a strong team at home. We're going into the game with a lot of motivation.

"It's important for us to win before the international break but - above all - to play well. We need that to improve. Sunday will be a good challenge for us."

Captain Thiago Silva and Spain forward Jese remain unavailable for PSG due to injuries but the champions have no other selection worries ahead of the long trip south.

After finishing 34 points ahead of their nearest rivals last season, PSG midfielder Marco Verratti admits it will be hard to continue dominating domestically.

"Last season, we were like a machine," he said. "But it's never easy to win, even if you're Paris St Germain. It's difficult to maintain ambition and concentration.

"We're going to focus on ourselves and give our all in games.

"I hope we'll play well against Monaco and win. It's important for us. We have already shown we're ready.

"We have won all our games. We're still not at 100 per cent, but we're going to improve."

Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim feels it will be a difficult match for his side but is eagerly anticipating the occasion.

The principality club, who finished third last season, are unbeaten in their opening two league matches, drawing at home to Guingamp before winning at Nantes.

"It will be a big game, a good duel," Jardim told Monaco's official website.

"We will try to win against the champions. We always hope to win in football.

"Last year we win in Paris, we lose in Monaco - we work to win, as in every game. "
