Posted Sunday, August 28, 2016 by PA
Cologne beat Darmstadt 2-0 in a game which was interrupted by bad weather for over 12 and a half minutes in the second half.
Leonardo Bittencourt jinked his way into the penalty area before squaring the ball for the unmarked Marcel Risse to convert from close range and give the Billy Goats an early lead.
A thunder storm saw the action interrupted early in the second half, with the referee sending the teams back to the safety of the dressing rooms with lightning overhead.
When they returned, it was Cologne who adapted quicker to the conditions with Anthony Modeste immediately adding a second to complete the win.
