Shrewsbury Town vs Gillingham - Adam El-Abd close to a Shrewsbury suspension
Posted Friday, August 26, 2016 by PA
Shrewsbury defender Adam El-Abd is already walking a disciplinary tightrope having collected four bookings this season.
One more and the summer signing will face a one-match ban with boss Micky Mellon admitting the club were hoping he can keep out of the book for a few weeks.
Shaun Whalley is a doubt with a calf injury having missed the 1-0 EFL Cup defeat to Sunderland on Wednesday.
Andy Mangan and Jim O'Brien are pushing for starts having been second-half substitutes at the Stadium of Light.
Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh will assess whether full-back Ryan Jackson is ready to return after missing the past two matches.
Jackson has been nursing a minor groin strain and Edinburgh felt it was too much of a risk to use him in the 5-0 defeat at Scunthorpe last Saturday so the 26-year-old was never likely to be in contention for the EFL Cup win over Premier League Watford.
New signing Jamie O'Hara, who arrived from Fulham earlier this month, is being eased into competitive action and may make the squad.
Scott Wagstaff is edging closer to full fitness after a calf injury as is Bradley Garmston (knee).
