Exeter City vs Portsmouth - Exeter wait on duo ahead of Pompey clash

Exeter will assess the fitness of skipper Jordan Moore-Taylor and Ollie Watkins ahead of the Sky Bet League Two clash with Portsmouth.

Full-back Moore-Taylor sat out Tuesday's EFL Cup defeat to Hull, while striker Watkins was only fit enough for a place on the bench after playing through the pain barrier in the Grecians' first league win of the season at Accrington.

Goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik is set to return after being rested for the Hull tie and winger David Wheeler is in contention to make his first start of the season after missing a couple of weeks due to personal reasons.

Midfielder Lee Holmes is still a few weeks away from full fitness following a foot injury.

Portsmouth defender Adam Buxton faces a further wait to make his first-team debut, having suffered an ankle knock in Monday's Premier League Cup clash with Southend.

Centre-back Matt Clarke is nearing a return from groin trouble but will have to wait until Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy tie against Yeovil.

Gareth Evans completed 90 minutes against Southend after knee and ankle injuries and hopes to be involved as a substitute.

And the situation is similar for fellow midfielder Ben Close following a hamstring issue.
