Thailand soundly beaten in Qatar friendly

Thailand have plenty of work ahead of them after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Qatar in a friendly match on Thursday.
The hope was for Kiatisak Senamuang’s men to build some confidence ahead of their all-important World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia taking place next week.
Instead, it will have underlined the magnitude of the job the Thai squad have ahead of them as they prepare to contest Group B of Asia’s third and final qualifying round for the 2018 World Cup, which also features Japan, Australia, the UAE and Iraq.
Thailand only had themselves to blame for going behind early, as striker Hasan Al Haydos opened Qatar’s account from the penalty spot in just the eighth minute of the game.
The scoreline remained unchanged until the 62nd minute, when Brazilian-born midfielder Rodrigo Tabata doubled his side’s advantage.
Fifteen minutes later, Al Haydos was on hand again, scoring his second of the night to help Qatar to a resounding 3-0 victory.
