Iker Casillas could be making a return to the Spanish national team as an assistant.
Ahead of announcing his first Spain squad on Friday, Julen Lopetegui has met with a number of players, including the 2010 World Cup-winning captain.
Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta and Diego Costa have also spoken to the Basque coach since he took over the role from Vicente del Bosque on July 21.
As revealed by GOL and 13TV, Lopetegui met with Casillas in Porto - the city where he used to coach and where the goalkeeper currently plays - to discuss the possibility of him becoming an assistant in the future.
Shorter term, Lopetegui will be focussing on La Roja's upcoming match against Belgium in Brussels on September 1.
