Palermo 0 - 1 US Sassuolo Calcio: Palermo pay the penalty at home to Europa League hopefuls Sassuolo

Sassuolo carried their impressive European form into their Serie A opener as they claimed a 1-0 win at Palermo.
Domenico Berardi's 32nd-minute penalty, awarded following Slobodan Rajkovic's foul on Gregoire Defrel, settled the contest as Sassuolo made it three wins and a draw from four competitive matches at the start of their campaign.
Eusebio Di Francesco's side had previously seen off FC Luzern to progress to the Europa League play-off, where on Thursday they beat Red Star Belgrade 3-0 in their first leg at home.
Palermo, who narrowly avoided relegation last season thanks to a good late run of results, were unable to find a way back against the in-form Neroverdi and finished the game with 10 men following Rajkovic's late red card.
