Paris Saint Germain vs Metz - Emery relishing Parc des Princes clash

Unai Emery is looking forward to his first game at the Parc des Princes since taking over as Paris St Germain coach.

The Spaniard succeeded Laurent Blanc in the summer and began his reign with a 1-0 win at Bastia last Friday, and now prepares to face Metz on home soil on Sunday.

"I am impatient to discover the Parc des Princes on Sunday," he told psg.fr. "I have only been there once, for my presentation.

"This jersey is special, there is a connection between the supporters and players. Football is a spectacle and everyone who loves Paris St Germain loves football. The players are aware of that."

Captain Thiago Silva remains sidelined by a hip injury, with two of his team-mates absent due to illness.

"Thiago Silva is improving, he will be available next week but this weekend is too soon," said Emery.

"Jese has had appendicitis so he will be out for two or three weeks. He has not trained this week, he needs total rest and will have to get going again steadily. (Salvatore) Sirigu is ill and must rest."

Emery is determined to keep his squad together as speculation surrounds the future of France midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

"We have talked about that with Matuidi," Emery said of a player linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus in recent weeks.

"I am very happy with him and he is happy here. For us, everything is clear - we hope he will stay with us.

"I want to go through the rest of the season with the players I have at my disposition at the moment so my position is clear, I want him here this season."

Metz's former PSG striker Mevlut Erding is feeling no pressure as he goes up against the team with whom he won the Coupe de France in 2009-10, also the most prolific season of his career.

"It is a match we can treat as a bonus and a chance to go up against big players," he told Direct FM.

"We know PSG are the best team in France, we go there with the desire to play a great match and give everything.

"For me it is always special to play against my former clubs, especially PSG because I spent some good times there. It's a legendary club."
