Recently, Manchester City are in talk with Everton about the transfer of John Stones. Earlier this month, City have placed the 22-year-old at the top of their wanted list and are prepared to meet Toffee's ￡50 million valuation, meaning he will become the most expensive English defender in history if he makes the switch to the Etihad Stadium, Telegraph reported. The 22-year-old was the subject of three transfer bids by Chelsea in last season's summer transfer window, but all of them were turned down by Everton. In case of being denied by Everton, City also prepared another plan towards Juventus center half back Leonardo Bonucci.

However, Stones might be the optimal person according to Guardiola, who appreciates this defender very much. The Spaniard noted that Stones is the right person with solid defensive performance and good skills.
