Champions League will stop Leicester challenging for title - Niall Quinn
NOT AGAIN: Quinn says Leicester won't be able to repeat their title triumph

Worried about the negative impact a dual charge on home and European fronts will bring to the Foxes – former Manchester City striker Quinn tips his old club to reclaim their crown.

And he is also ‘blaming’ Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester for the increased summer of spending madness.

Quinn, who will again be co-commentating for Sky Sports this season, said: “Earlier this summer a friend said to me, ‘The Premier League cleansed itself last season’.

"And while it was very profound statement, he had a point in the sense that the game had gone money mad.

"Then Leicester came along to show that in spite of a lot of money being spent elsewhere, that a team that had heart, courage, commitment, spirit and a game-plan that everyone sticks to, can allow you to upset the odds.

"And that is what made the story so refreshing and everyone feel great about it.

"It was the best year to be involved in the Premier League since I was there on day one as a player – because it was the story that should NEVER have happened. And when it did, the other so-called bigger clubs said, ‘Let’s make sure it does not happen again’.

"Those clubs at the top have since gone crazy. We are now paying £120million for players and are giving agents £20m.

"Last year, with Leicester, we got a glimpse of what money can’t buy.

"Now we are going to see what money CAN buy. And that is the thing I fear for Leicester. The fact they have to play in the Champions League as well means they will find it hard to get close to where they got to last season.”

Instead, Quinn is tipping Pep Guardiola’s City to pip Man United’s Jose Mourinho to the title.

He said: “I think City have an edge – they are starting from a stronger base than United. The big story this season will be in Manchester.”
