Atletico’s Cerezo hints at Vietto exit
Club president Enrique Cerezo says that Barcelona and Sevilla target Luciano Vietto is still an Atletico Madrid player, but hints that a move is possible.

According to reports publiched in Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have had a €22m offer accepted for the 22-year-old striker, while new Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has expressed his desire to take the player on a loan deal.

Both reports were denied by Cerezo, who left enough room for interpretation as to the player's future.

"Luciano Vietto is still an Atletico player and so far we haven't decided anything or received an offer from Barcelona," the filmmaker said at an event in Uruguay, according to Marca.

"It's not logical to say that he'll go to Barcelona because we haven't been in contact with them," he continued. "He's an Atletico player and available to [Diego] Simeone. A lot [of the transfer window] remains to discover what the player wants and what he'll do.

"I'm among those who think that players must be at the club they want [to be at].

"Neither is Vietto joining Sevilla on loan. We want him to stay, but we also have to see how things develop. He's a fantastic player with huge potential. I love him."

Cerezo went on to express his and the club's admiration for their captain, Diego Godin.

"He's a wonderful person and an outstanding player, and when a player has those two characteristics, he'll always be loved," he added.

"We worship him at our stadium, and all the clubs want him in the footballing world.

"It means a lot for Atletico to have a defender like Godin, firstly because he's top-class, secondly he's a fantastic person, and thirdly we've achieved some of our greatest successes while he's been at the club."
