Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to recover by UEFA Super Cup date

Real Madrid are almost certain to be without Cristiano Ronaldo's services for the European Super Cup against Sevilla on August 9 in Norway but he believes there is still an outside chance of featuring.

An injury sustained during the Euro 2016 final is expected to see the Portugal captain sidelined for Los Blancos' first three games of the new season, including their August 9 showdown in Trondheim.

"I'm in a good recovery and hope to return as quickly as possible," Ronaldo said.

"Though I'm practically ruled out for the European Super Cup, when I return to Madrid, I will reassess."
