MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on a club record £80m deal for Paul Pogba

The France midfielder is in advanced talks with the Old Trafford outfit and could seal the deal once Euro 2016 is over.

Pogba, 23, was on Real Madrid's radar but wants to link up with Jose Mourinho and return to the club that amazingly let him leave for nothing in 2012.

The news comes after Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed that he is on his way to Old Trafford.

United are expected to confirm the deal in the next 24 hours. The Swedish superstar has agreed personal terms and passed a medical, and last night said: "Time to let the world know. My next destination is Manchester United."

He will join United on a free after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season and will become new boss Mourinho's second signing.

That deal has been on the cards for a while, but it United's willingness to shell out the most ever paid by a British club that is set to rock football.

It would beat the £59.7m United paid for Angel di Maria, equal the £80m Real Madrid splashed on Cristiano Ronaldo and only be behind Gareth Bale's £86m switch from Spurs to the Bernabeu.

Pogba has the same agent as Ibrahimovic - Mino Raiola - who also brokered the £34m deal for Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan to join United, a switch that will be confirmed next week.

United opened provisional talks with Ibrahimovic three months ago, but the deal was finalised once he knew Mourinho was taking charge.

The 34-year-old has agreed a 12-month deal worth £250,000-a-week with the option of a further season.

He has been desperate to end his career in the Premier League and he snubbed more lucrative offers because he wanted to team up with Mourinho again.

The pair worked together at Inter Milan and Ibrahimovic rates him the best boss in world football.

United are also set to announce the departure of Ryan Giggs.

The 42-year-old Welshman is the most decorated star in the club's history, but has decided to finally severe ties with his one and only club after being overlooked for the manager's job three times.
