Barcelona star fires nation to Copa America final
Lionel Messi's astonishing free-kick goal was enough to make all Argentines bow down before him, figuratively. But one young Argentine also decided to do so literally.
Just before the second-half of Argentina's game against the United States in the Copa America Centenario, Messi was treated to a fan prostrating himself before the star.
The overexcited fan stormed the pitch, then threw himself at Messi, whilst security guards merely looked on.
The Barcelona legend took it all in his stride, not only signing the plucky fan's shirt, but returning his enthusiastic hug with a smile.
As the pitch invader bowed down before the world's greatest footballer, Messi tussled the young man's hair affectionately.
The channels covering the match did not broadcast the episode, but spectators inside the stadium caught it all on film.
Argentina went on to beat the United States 4-0.
